Rappelling (also known as abseiling or canyoning) takes you into the heart of the jungle through a wild river canyon at El Remanso, a 15-minute ride from Lapa Rios. Carolina Bays are oval or teardrop shaped wetlands oriented along a Northwest-Southeast axis, and are found from Maryland south to Georgia. Deer — The white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), found throughout the state in brushy or wooded areas, is the most important Texas game animal.
