His funerary monument elevated a dog’s remains to the equivalent of that of a human sarcophagus, replete with the deceased resting on a pillow, with two other dogs standing in support as columns on either side. Having seen only photographs of some of the exhibits, I have to agree with latter view. Of course this strongly marked charac- teristic is in no way a fault; neither is it to be imputed to any sculptor as a merit.
